Why I Attend
First Baptist Church
“FOR ME there are many reasons, but foremost is that we as a community of faith are open to different ideas on theology, social issues, politics and all the other things that tend to create division; but at FBC we try to make those differences very subordinate to what we have in common: a respect for each other and a real warmth of fellowship. I appreciate worshiping next to someone who I know I might not encounter in my daily life. I am moved that even though we don't see the world through the same eyes, we as a congregation dream of an impact our church, and its people of faith, can have on our corner of the community in which we live. I attend here because the differences of understanding I encounter make me grow as a person, while the sense of grace we share as a church family allows me the space and support to worship as a person seeking to be part of the kingdom of God.”

“WELCOMING smiles and open arms for all who enter worship.
Here, words take to action. Hearts are changed. Here, comfort is given and encouragement seeded in troubled hearts. Here, music soars and fills up the air. Here, quiet prayer unites us; A community of faith transcending age. I have found my church home.” — Deb

“I ATTEND FBC because I can't imagine my life without this beautiful body of believers. The special worship services challenge and inspire while providing a community of young and old, seekers, those who dig deep and those who trust easily. I am challenged by the spoken word of our dedicated and relational Pastor, encouraged by the participation of our members, inspired by our variety of outstanding music, and cherish our beautiful historic sanctuary. I have opportunity to join with my church community in local and worldwide outreach ministry. It is where I grow, worship, serve, and share faith and life with my loving extended family.”

“ALTHOUGH I've attended First Baptist for over a year now, I still consider myself a bit of a newbie. I’m a singer and have been lucky enough to sing and attend churches of different faiths and traditions. At first FBC was fairly similar to other churches I had sung with -- I would come in, help beef up the sound, and enjoy the company of friendly people. That's what I expected. What I didn't expect was to feel so at home. I don't know Bible verses by heart, was not raised a Baptist, and occasionally have to have things explained to me. However, none of that effects how much love and care I feel when I'm here. I started to attend worship even when I wasn't needed as a singer and noticed that I felt lighter as I would head home after the service. I'm not fully sure how the Holy Spirit works in our lives, but when I'm singing to God, I'm not just reciting words anymore. It's almost like calling for help, then feeling something holding your hand, reminding you you're not alone in whatever struggle your enduring. I'm looking forward to many more years attending and singing with the family of First Baptist.”

“THE WORK has been done for us. All we need to do, is obey. Choose life.
Since I've been in attendance, my will to receive the word has increased ten-fold. The road to heaven has become clearer. Faith has been watered, fed, and nurtured. Life still continues to press, bring its many hardships, and inflict its pain upon my mind and my sinful past. However, the Holy Spirit has placed so much blessing and life upon this body. I'm more than grateful -- I GIVE PRAISE, to be in the presence of such blessing.” — Geoffrey
